Success is not about having the flashiest car, clothes,
and jewelry. Many people who have great riches are not happy, because they never
learned how to use their lives to make other people's lives better. You are at
this camp because you have decided to learn, practice, and develop your talents. This
is the first step towards becoming a winner in life. Learn
as much as you can from your mistakes, the mistakes of
others, and from people
whom have succeeded.
"Put in the work" to develop your talents. The second step towards becoming a true winner and having true success is
to use your talents in order to help other people. Life will always give you
challenges, and you may want to give up. At times, you will have bad luck or
run into jealous people whom will try to stop your progress. Block out the negativity. You can not control them, and you can not control bad luck. You can only control your own attitude. Do no let their personal
problems become your personal problems. Stay strong in your mind by focusing
on reaching your goal. Stay positive in your mind, keep your faith, and find
a way to overcome the challenges. If you have strong discipline and strong goals,
you will find a way! I have been lucky to find a career working with the State
of California, Department of Parks and Recreation. Working with a very dedicated
and creative team, we have been able to help communities by funding new parks and community centers. It is a good feeling to know that I have played a small role in improving the lives of others. I hope that all of you will find a way to develop your talents, and decide to use your talents to improve
the lives of others that need your help. Here are some quotes that may help you
succeed in life: "Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good
is better and your better is best." - Tim Duncan
