Sister Marsha L Allen came to Perris with an RV, $5. and $4000 dollars in candy. She felt a calling to come to the city of Perris to do a very needed work. In
2001, Sister Marsha was living in Moreno Valley
with a house full of children and their mothers that she was assisting to get back on their feet. She reached out to those in need by going to them and delivering food and the Word. She would feed their bodies but also minister to their soul. Her
goal is building the whole man, whole woman, and whole child (spirit, soul, and body).
She has started to sell ice cream in two ice cream trucks in the local community.
The money she receives goes to purchase the food she gives to the needy families.
In working in a collaborative effort with the DPSS (Riverside County Department of Public and Social Services) the
Perris Valley Family
Resource Center, a One Stop Shop offering services
to needy families, opened in September 2000. The Collaborative grew to include: The Riverside DPSS, The Global Church, Catholic Charities of Riverside/San Bernardino
and Caritas Counseling, Valley Restart Shelter, Inc., The Epoch Center, The peace Center for Family Advancement, Community
Access Center, The Goshen Development Corporation,
The peace Center Family Cooperative, Inc. and California Family Life Center/Kin Care.
The Global Church was encouraged
to take the lead role and develop a 501c3 in order to apply for funds to continue. In
2003 the Perris Valley Resource
Center became the Perris Valley Family Resource Center Incorporated. With a corporation status the Riverside DPSS has committed to continue to cover cost of the facility for
the next 5 years. Sister Marsha has targeted five cities to pilot the programs
that God has directed her to begin. The plan is to pilot the program with 100
families in 5 cities each. Each city is to have a Family
Resource Center.
The targeted cities in California and centers are: Perris
Valley Family Resource Center
(Perris); Mecca Family & Farm Worker
Service Center (Mecca);
High Desert Family Resource Network (Victorville); Torres Martinez Tribe Indian Reservation (Thermal); The Concerned Family
(March Air Force Base Moreno Valley). The Mission of the Perris Valley Collaborative
is Master family planning to establish peace, prosperity and progress in their families, neighborhoods and in the City of
Perris, Ca. The expected outcomes
are Moving from needing food to being a strong family unit with the head of the household employed, enabled to meet the needs
of the family, a plan to move to home ownership and ultimately serve others in need.
Sister Marsha a remarkable woman of God walks by faith day by day. She
seeks to be the vessel in which God can work through. It is impressive and a
model for us to come together and be open to the doors God directs us to go. We
need to pray in the spirit and listen to His small still voice. Sometimes in
our busy lives we get caught up in the moments of our own flesh, but when we stop and pray we find the peace that no other
can give. The peace in our direction and in our hearts to do and be the vessels
God can use. Sister Marsha knows this all to well and seeks to train the families
to rise up and then be available vessels for Christ.
