Health Insurance Programs for Low-Income Families and Undocumented Children

          (AIM) Program

Low-cost comprehensive health plan for pregnant women and their newborns.

 

CaliforniaKids Healthcare

An independent non-profit organization that provides premium-subsidized, comprehensive primary health care services to children ages 2 through 18.

Benefits include:  Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription Drugs, Behavioral Health, and 24-hour nurse access.

 

Child Health and Disability                          

          Prevention (CHPD) Program    (800) 993-2437

CHDP provides free health check-ups for children under 19 and requires no proof of citizenship or immigration status. With CHDP, medical, dental, vision, hearing and other assessments are available at no charge. To qualify, the family's gross income must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.

Low-cost insurance program that provides health, dental and vision coverage to children who do not have insurance and do not qualify for no-cost Medi-Cal.

 

Health Insurance Counseling and

          Advocacy Program (HICAP)               (800) 434-0222

Provides assistance with Medicare, managed care (HMOs), long-term care insurance and other related health insurance issues.  Along with individual counseling, HICAP offers community education presentations.  All services are free of charge.

 

Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP)  (800) 440-4347

Provides comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision care at low- or no-cost.  IEHP serves Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, and Healthy Kids populations.

 

Kaiser-Permanente Cares for Kids    (800) 255-5053

For children from birth to age 19 who are not eligible for Medi-Cal or Healthy Families.  Comprehensive health care including office visits, vision care, prescription medicines, mental health services, substance abuse services, hospital services and lab tests.  Dental care not covered.

 

Los Angeles County Department

Offers several plans including low-cost, no-cost, Ability to Pay, outpatient reduced cost, pre-payment plan, child delivery plan, and other insurance plans for low-income families.

 

Medi-Cal Screening Line                      (909) 335-3309

Provides low- or no-cost services, depending on family income.  Services include inpatient/outpatient, preventive care, prescription drugs, lab, dental, vision, mental health and substance abuse services.
