The Homeless Care Fair was held on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the SAC Clinic (Former Norton
Air Force Base), 1455 East Third Street, San Bernardino. Services included were medical exams, employment assistance,
haircuts, flu shots, immunization, dental screening, eye exams and many more. Homelessness is an issue many people don't
realize is in their own backyard. Whether you live in Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Fontana or San Bernardino, chances are
there are homeless families at the school district in which you live. The numbers vary from city to city but the problem
is increasingly overwhelming. Organizations, both government and faith based attempt to tackle the problems with supportive
services to assist the homeless. These homeless consist of single men and women to complete families. With the
problems growing more as rents skyrocket out of the reach of many, families are loosing homes and ending in hotels and in
the streets. The worst part is that children are homeless too. From newborn to 17, homelessness is becoming a
standard for many. The San Bernardino Homeless Coalition along with its many partners gathered together for their annual
homeless fair. Organizations came out to offer free services and lunch to those who attended. Blankets, duffel
bags, clothes, hair cuts, medical assistance and many free items were donated to assist the needy. This is what it takes
to tackle this problem: everyone coming together in strength. Together we can do so much. Suppose a brother
or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,"
but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied
by action, is dead. James 2: 15-17,Every Day a child, adult or senior goes hungry. It’s not a hand out they
need but a hand up and out of the hole. Are you going to help someone today. Everyone together we can make a difference.
